Mandatory E-Invoicing: France's 2026–2027 Timeline and Junyr's Factur-X Pilot

24 February 20265 min

France's phased 2026–2027 e-invoicing and e-reporting timetable, and the controlled-development status of Junyr's Factur-X and B2Brouter integration.

Mandatory E-Invoicing: France's 2026–2027 Timeline and Junyr's Factur-X Pilot

In short — From 1 September 2026, VAT-taxable persons established in France within the reform's scope — including persons not liable to pay VAT where the statutory rules apply — must be able to receive electronic invoices. Large companies and ETIs must also issue electronically and perform transaction/payment e-reporting then; SMEs and micro-businesses follow for issuance and e-reporting on 1 September 2027. Junyr has built a Factur-X engine and B2Brouter adapter, but the regulated exchange remains a controlled pilot in development, not a readiness or compliance claim.

What changes in September 2026

Starting September 1, 2026, VAT-taxable persons established in France within the reform's scope — including persons not liable to pay VAT where the statutory rules apply — must be able to receive electronic invoices. Large companies and ETIs also begin mandatory issuance and transaction/payment e-reporting; SMEs and micro-businesses begin those two obligations on September 1, 2027.

This reform, enacted through the 2024 Finance Act, aims to:

  • Combat VAT fraud
  • Simplify tax reporting obligations
  • Modernize B2B transactions

Factur-X: one permitted structured format

Factur-X is one of the structured formats permitted for the French reform, alongside UBL and CII. It is a hybrid format:

  • A human-readable PDF (the classic invoice)
  • An embedded XML file readable by machines (structured data)

This format complies with the European standard EN 16931 and enables interoperability with certified dematerialization platforms (PDP).

How the Junyr Suite is building this for you

The Junyr Suite's Finance module (one of its 8 integrated business modules) is being built around Factur-X end to end:

CapabilityStatus
Factur-X generationBuilt — hybrid PDF + EN 16931 XML, with structured SIRET, intra-community VAT and NAF data
Branded PDF exportBuilt — your invoices with your logo and brand identity (Typst engine)
Bank reconciliationBuilt — the matching pipeline (lettrage) is implemented and tested
Regulated transmission / receptionControlled pilot — B2Brouter is an approved platform; Junyr's current-contract, directory-route and automatic-reception evidence remains in development
Junyr AgentBuilt — your Junyr Agent can convert a quote to a Factur-X invoice in one click
Payment trackingBuilt — automatic reminders, integrated cash flow monitoring

Where the Junyr Suite stands today

The Junyr Suite's Factur-X engine — hybrid PDF + EN 16931 XML generation, structured tax data, and deterministic matching primitives — is built and tested. B2Brouter is already an approved platform, so Junyr is not waiting for a provider. What remains is Junyr's current-contract hardening, directory-derived route evidence, automatic complete reception, restart-safe outbound lifecycle, and transaction/payment e-reporting.

Historical note, July 2026: sandbox/provider and webhook tests proved parts of the then-current adapter. Those dated proofs do not establish today's end-to-end readiness, and the current database contains no provider-linked inbound or outbound success and no recorded payment reconciliation.

Our goal is to close those evidence gaps without turning provider approval or historical tests into a compliance promise.

If you're still on Excel, Sage, or EBP, our assisted migration (flat €1,490 excl. VAT, on quote above €5M revenue) can import existing clients, invoices and products. Migration helps prepare your data; it does not itself activate the official directory or establish regulatory readiness.

Summary

Here's where the Junyr Suite is on the road to the mandate:

  • Native Factur-X generation in the Finance module (built)
  • Junyr Agent that drafts your invoices automatically
  • B2Brouter adapter — controlled pilot in development; B2Brouter's approved-platform status is not Junyr readiness evidence
  • Included in your subscription — no e-invoicing add-on
  • European, independent hosting — your data stays secured and always available, with On-Prem self-hosting available as an Enterprise option
  • Assisted migration from your current tools (flat €1,490 excl. VAT, on quote above €5M revenue)

FAQ

What is Junyr's e-invoicing integration status?

It is in development as a controlled pilot. The Factur-X engine, B2Brouter adapter, manual supplier-invoice pull/parser, project-assignment and matching primitives are real. They do not yet prove automatic reception, current-contract transmission, directory-route activation, e-reporting or compliance.

What is Factur-X and why does France require it?

Factur-X is one permitted implementation of the European EN 16931 semantic model: a human-readable PDF with an embedded, machine-readable XML payload. UBL and CII are also permitted structured formats under the French reform; the obligation is not a mandate to use Factur-X specifically.

Will e-invoicing cost extra on top of my Junyr subscription?

No. E-invoicing is included in your Junyr Suite subscription with no separate add-on, billed via SEPA or bank transfer. See current pricing for the all-included Société plan.

Can I migrate my existing invoices and clients into Junyr?

Yes. The assisted migration (flat €1,490 excl. VAT, on quote above €5M revenue) imports clients, invoices and products from tools like Excel, Sage or EBP, and the Migration Wizard can also import a Gmail or Outlook mailbox via secure OAuth.

Will my invoices and data stay in Europe?

Yes. The Junyr Suite is an independent AI suite: European hosting, your data secured and always available, three confidentiality tiers (Simple, Sécurisée, Totale) and the option to run your own local AI model — without your data ever leaving your hardware.
